INTERVIEW

Our thanks to Sara for coordinating this investigation for M and M Investigators.  Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, New Jersey is the third tallest masonry lighthouse in the United States at 171 feet tall with 228 steps to the top.  Absecon Lighthouse is approximately 152 years old, having been commissioned after the wreck of the Powhatan in April 1854 in which all of the 311 passengers and crew were lost.  The Powhatan was only one of the hundreds of shipwrecks that occurred just off the coast.  The Absecon Inlet came to be nick named “Graveyard Inlet”.  Paranormal activity at Absecon Lighthouse has been reported by lighthouse keepers dating back to the 1905 report of the lighthouse keeper having seen the Jersey Devil at the top of the tower; to claims made by present day employees and visitors.  Reports of paranormal activity include: smells of pipe and cigar smoke, sounds of footsteps in the tower and the sound of the tower door opening/closing.  Dimes have been said to appear in strange locations, partial apparitions have been seen, and many feel as though the light keepers that worked at Absecon lighthouse until decommissioned in 1933, are still on watch and going about their daily duties.  At least seven of these light house keepers or their family members are known to have died on the property.  Twelve births are also documented to have occurred at Absecon lighthouse.

INVESTIGATION

It was a dark and stormy night…(well it was!  Rain, sleet, snow, wind…great night for a lighthouse!)  We made the trek from Smyrna, DE to Atlantic City, NJ on December 5, 2009 and were met by Stephanie C., the Director of Education at Absecon lighthouse.  Stephanie was very welcoming and was a wellspring of knowledge regarding Absecon lighthouse.  M and M Investigators invited Stephanie to join one of our investigating teams as we started our investigation of Absecon lighthouse.  We had discussed and planned how we were going to set up video and audio prior to arriving.  However, once in the tower, we noticed immediately that our plan would not work and had to quickly rethink our set-up.  Black and white night vision cameras were placed in the windowsills of each landing (6).   Digital cameras were used by several of the investigators in attempt to gather photographic evidence of the paranormal activity.

Digital audio recorders on landings 2, 3, 4 & 5 as well as being carried by some of the investigators trying to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVPs).  Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) detectors and Non-Contact Thermometers were used to monitor variations in the EMF and ambient temperature which may be an indication of paranormal activity.

The only place that we were not able to investigate was inside the “Oil house”.  There seemed to be some problems getting the door to unlock.  Well, that’s not really true.  The key turned, it unlocked, and the door handle just would not turn to let us open the door.  Was it a mechanical failure?  Or, as I envisioned, the ghosts of several of the light house keepers on the inside of the Oil house gripping the door handle and bracing the door!  You decide.

OUR FINDINGS

There was a minimal of photographic evidence captured during the investigation…I will just say that we “captured the flag”. (see the photos on our ghostly photos page)  Video evidence was also obtained at Absecon light house, four videos showing everything from a spectral face to something playing with one of the investigators.  (see our videos page)  We had an overwhelming amount of EVPs; men, woman, children…whispers to loud voices…they run the gamut.  There were no anomalous EMF or Temperature readings.  However, while outside at the top of the tower we did get a temperature reading of negative three! (Oh Yeah, It was cold and windy!)

During our investigation of Absecon lighthouse we did have some personal experiences.  Matt, Mike and John were up in the tower, about midway.  The rest of the team was in the museum.  Distinct footsteps were heard below us coming up the stairs.  We called down to see who was coming up.  We were told there was no one on the stairs.  We also noticed the smell of pipe smoke for a few fleeting seconds, it seemed to be there one minute and then gone the next.  While on the 5th landing, one of the investigators saw some sparkling lights in the tower.  It was only seen once, by the one investigator, so it would be difficult to say what this might have been.  Investigators reported seeing shadowy figures and a black mass on the stairs above the 3rd landing.  A disembodied breath in the ear of one investigator brought her down from between the 5th and 6th landings with an interesting EVP to share with the rest of the team.  During the night we heard many strange sounds such as a girl or woman humming, footsteps at the top of the tower (when no one was above the 5th landing) the sound of the tower door opening – then everything became very quiet, no activity at all.  Then we heard the sound of the tower door close and more footsteps.  It was as if the lighthouse keeper had been out on the catwalk around the outside at the top of the tower and then had come back in.  After this we started hearing someone blowing a whistle (like was used on ships years ago).  The whistler even interacted with us for a short time, blowing the whistle when we asked.  So, we don’t think this was just the weather causing the whistling.

M and M Investigators says:  Absecon lighthouse definitely has some paranormal activity, much of which seems to be residual, such as, old lighthouse keepers going about their duties. There may also be some intelligent entity hanging around as evidenced by some of the EVPs and the interactive whistling.  With the amount and variety of evidence collected on this investigation, M and M Investigators has to call Absecon Light House Haunted.

INTERVIEW

Leone’s Loockerman Exchange has been investigated by M and M Investigators on two previous occasions and found to meet our criteria for an active haunting. So, we were excited to get back into see J.R. and Guido to find out what has been happening since we were in last. Reportedly, shadowy figures still roam the entire place and staff do not like to go (or just don’t go) into some of the basement areas of the building. We understand why after our investigations. The basements have been the most active areas of the place. Which may be related to the connection with the underground railroad and the now defunct tunnels that lead out of the basement to other buildings in the area.

INVESTIGATION

On Friday October 30, 2009, M and M Investigators arrived at Leone’s Loockerman Exchange just before midnight and began our set up. We placed black and white night vision cameras in the basement, aimed at the far niche to see if we could catch the “shadow man” again that wanted Matt to come out an fight him. Another camera was aimed at the iron grate door and stairs; two were placed in the sub basement area and two were placed up between the bar and dance floor in attempt to capture any shadow figures that have been reported around the kitchen. Digital cameras were used to capture possible photographic evidence of paranormal activity. A black and white night vision camera with a motion sensor was also used to collect photographic evidence during the investigation.

Digital audio recorders were placed in the “hot spots” and carried by several of the investigators throughout the investigation in attempt to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP). Non - Contact thermometers were used to assess the ambient temperatures for unexplained fluctuations which may be a sign of paranormal activity. Electro-Magnetic Field (EMF) detectors were also used to evaluate the area for EMF anomalies. Fluctuations in the EMF fields can also be a sign of paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

Review of all the evidence was thorough and exhaustive. There is video evidence of an “orb” acting in an unexplainable manner…it certainly does not seem to be following the normal air currents in the room as the rest of the particulate matter does, and is it playing with the doll, or playing hide-and -seek behind the box? Check out our videos page and see for yourself.

Photographic evidence is in question on this investigation. What one investigator sees as a paranormal kitchen creature, another investigator interprets as reflection. Is a water stain paranormal? What if it looks like a woman holding a baby, is it paranormal then? See our “possible pics” on our ghostly pics pages.

The Digital audio recorders picked up several voices that did not belong to those of M and M Investigators. Listen to the best of these on our EVPs page.

There were no unexplainable temperature fluctuations noted during the investigation. There were a few anomalous EMF readings. Some of the EMF readings seemed to be bleeding up through the floor from power lines and the power boxes in the basement. There were some free floating, non-recurring EMF anomalies that were noted in the bathrooms and on the dance floor.

Personal experiences were had by some of the investigators during the wee hours of that Halloween morning. Several of the teams investigating in the sub-basement area reported seeing shadows moving in the darkened room. One investigator heard someone behind her say her name, when she turned around, no one was behind her. However, her voice recorder captured the EVP saying “come on, Vicki,”!

M and M Investigators says that Leone’s Loockerman Exchange still has a level of paranormal activity that upholds our previous decisions, of residual as well as interactive haunting. It does seem that the evidence of activity shows a slight lessening of the activity at this time, this may be due to any number of causes, time of year, damp weather conditions, or just the wrong place at the wrong time scenario. Do not doubt, Leone’s Loockerman Exchange is still one of Dover, Delaware’s haunted hot spots.

INTERVIEW

This investigation was referred to M and M Investigators by Rich Hickman of Tri-County Paranormal Investigators of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The homeowner moved into this home approximately eleven years ago. Since then the family has experienced various unexplained activity they believe to be paranormal including an instance involving their toddler who was playing on the bed. The child seemed to be babbling and playing with her shadow on the wall when she clearly said the name of the mother’s dead cousin. The homeowner also reports the dogs that have been in the home have stared at or barked at nothing and one seemed to track an “orb”, a leap pad toy went off by itself, there are noises of things falling and breaking in the front room but when you go to see what happened, there is nothing out of place. While taking pictures in the home the homeowner snapped off a few shots in the laundry area. He noticed that the dryer was going and could smell the fabric softener. He knew the cycle was not done because of the alarms that buzz during the cycle. After he left the room, the fiancé entered the laundry area to find the clothes pulled out of the dryer and twisted into a rope. Of course, she thought that he was playing a joke on her, but he was pretty shocked seeing the clothes out of the dryer.

Before leaving for the investigation, a sensitive that works with M and M Investigators came up with the following information: Paul, Steven/Stevens, April, 1967, 17:00, Fire, Plane photo. She went on to explain; the plane is a military type plane, described as “bullet-nosed” and the photo shows a young man next to or on the plane. The image of the plane photo was very clear to the sensitive, and the young man was felt to appear very proud of “his” plane. This plane is possible connected to the fire sensed by the sensitive. The sensitive felt that if the plane and the fire were connected, then all the pieces didn’t come home. The other thing that made the sensitive feel this was military related was the military time of 17:00. She said, I don’t normally think in military time. The sensitive only had the general location of the investigation, whereas we had been given a little bit of information regarding the pilot during the interview with the homeowner.

When asking the homeowner about the sensitive’s information, he was able to confirm that the cousin’s name was Steve, he was a fighter pilot, he died in a plane crash in Italy. He thought the crash occurred in the springtime in the early 1970’s. Finally, the homeowner said they had a picture of Steve, smiling, standing on the wing of his fighter plane that was kept on their dresser for years.

INVESTIGATION

On October 3, 2009, M and M Investigators conducted our investigation of the Dagsboro private residence. A full moon and patchy fog with a slight breeze added to the ambiance for this investigation. However, it would cause any outside photographic evidence to be suspect due to the conditions. Black and white night vision cameras were set up on the back porch, kitchen, dining room and two of the bed rooms. A Hi8 camera was also set up in the dining room. Digital cameras were used in attempt to capture paranormal activity photographically.

Digital and analog voice recorders were placed in all the “hot spots” in the home in attempt to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP). Electromagnetic Field (EMF) detectors were used to evaluate and monitor EMF fluctuations in the home. EMF fluctuations may represent paranormal activity. Non - Contact thermometers were used to monitor ambient temperatures for fluctuations which could be indicative of paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

After a thorough review of all the data collected during the investigation, M and M Investigators found no video evidence and no photographic evidence of paranormal activity. There were no anomalous EMF or ambient temperature fluctuations during the investigation. There were however, a few EVPs found on the audio recordings.

We did have a couple possible paranormal personal experiences. As soon as we were set up and were ready to go, Darlene took out her camera and tried to turn it on, it wouldn’t do anything. She said it had brand new batteries in it. A change of batteries later and it was working fine. During the original interview with the homeowner, one of the questions asked was if he noticed any money, especially coins, out of place. The homeowner said no. When we tried to recreate the clothes dryer incident and had finished, the dryer door was opened just enough to stop the cycle and closed again. In that very short instant and very minimal opening of the door, a penny came out of the dryer to land at my feet.

M and M Investigators says, we caught very little evidence of paranormal activity during our investigation, even after trying to recreate the paranormal activity with the dryer. This is not to say that the activity is not what the homeowners report it to be, but it didn’t want to come out and play with us.

INTERVIEW

The homeowners from Marydel contacted M and M Investigators to inform us of the resurgence of paranormal activity after having renovations done in the home and some improvements made on the property.  The activity started about half way through the renovations and has continued after the renovations have been completed.  The family reports that a securely locked bedroom door opened on its own, yet the door handle remained locked.  TV’s turn themselves on and off.  A fan was noted to change sounds, as if someone or something had walked in front of it.  The baby was seen putting her arms up and laughing (as if to be wanting to be picked up) but no one was there.  The baby’s bottle seemed to roll down the hall on its own and her toys were talking when no one was playing with them.  Finally, several members of the family have seen a full form apparition of a young boy with a striped shirt in the home.

According to a sensitive that works with M and M Investigators, the curly-haired boy’s name may be Derek.  He was 8 – 9 years old when he died and his death had something to do with water.  Derek is searching for his mother Catherine who the sensitive feels has already crossed over.  Catherine is described as tall and thin with her brown hair worn in a bun.  Derek’s father used to farm the land.

INVESTIGATION

On July 11, 2009, M and M Investigators conducted an investigation in the home and the surrounding property.  Black and white night vision cameras were placed on the back deck to cover an area in the yard where a dark figure of a man is seen.  Cameras were also placed in the master bedroom, upstairs back bed room, downstairs front room and downstairs bedroom.  A Hi8 camera was used to document activity in the upstairs red bedroom and another was set up in the downstairs TV area, focused on the toy that the homeowners reported had been playing on its own.  Digital Cameras were used in attempt to capture paranormal activity on photographs.

Digital and analog voice recorders were placed in all of the upstairs bedrooms and the downstairs TV area in attempts to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP).  Voice recorders were also carried by several of the investigators through the home during the investigation.  ElectroMagnetic Field (EMF) detectors and K2 meters were used to monitor the electromagnetic fields in and around the home.  Unexplained variations in the EMF can be indicative of paranormal activity.  Non-contact thermometers were used to monitor the variations in ambient temperature.  Unexplained variations in temperature can also be a sign of paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

After a thorough review of all the data collected during our investigation, we have come up with very little that we can consider evidence of the paranormal.  There was no video or photographic evidence.  No anomalous EMF spikes or temperature changes documented.  However, there was a rhythmic - type K2 hit, but since we can not rule out the probability of an investigators cell phone searching for a signal as the cause for this K2 hit, we can not consider this true evidence of paranormal activity.  There are some EVPs that were captured during this investigation that seem to give some credence to the feelings of our sensitive.  (You can check out some of the best EVPs from this investigation on our EVPs page.)

Two of our investigators told of the personal experiences that they had during this investigation.  Both female investigators stated that they were touched by something, one on the arm and the other on the hand.  I ask, if a child of 8 – 9 yrs old was trying to get your attention, or gain some sense of comfort from you, where would they reach out to touch you…they would try to hold you hand, or try to tap your arm, “Mom! Mom! Mom!” (I’m sure every mother has heard that at least once or twice!)

M and M Investigators says, that with the lack of evidence obtained during this investigation we can only say there may be some minor paranormal activity still remaining after the renovations have been completed but given some time and lack of acknowledgment by the homeowners, even this remnant should subside.

INTERVIEW

This investigation was brought to M and M Investigators through a connection with a new member to our team, Darlene L. who has experienced some of the paranormal activity of the residence for herself.  On May 23, 2009 , M and M Investigators conducted an investigation in this Wilmington , DE private residence.  The owners had moved out a couple of months before saying that it “just didn’t feel like home anymore”.  Some of the claims of activity reported include; the presence of 2 young ghost children that the homeowners children would “play” with, reports of the homeowner having his legs thrown from the bed while he was sleeping, strange noises and voices being heard which seem to come from everywhere and nowhere and the apparition of a hooded figure in a cubby area in one room.  The homeowner has the house on the market but has expressed concern about selling the home if the residence was haunted.  Other homes around this one have sold, seemingly without difficulty.  However, this home has only had a few people look at it.

INVESTIGATION

Night vision cameras were setup in the living room, on the stair and in the blue, pink and purple bedrooms.  Digital and 35mm photographs were taken in and outside of the home.  The “Stealth Cam,” a night vision, motion sensor camera was also used to record activity during the investigation.

Electo Magnetic Field (EMF) detectors and K2 meters were used to monitor the electromagnetic field fluctuations in the home.  These fluctuations could represent paranormal activity.  Non-contact thermometers were used to measure the ambient temperature and register changes in the ambient temperature of a room.  Unexplainable temperature changes (cold/hot spots) could also represent paranormal activity.  Digital and analog voice recorders were placed in hot spots in the home and were carried by investigators during the investigation.  These voice recorders are used in attempt to pick up Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP).  These are the unexplained voices and noises that are on the recordings when they are played back that were not heard at the time the recording was made.

OUR FINDINGS

After careful review of the data collected during the investigation we found no video evidence suggestive of paranormal activity.  Minimal photographic evidence was noted that could not be explained by normal means also.  However, there was a series of photos taken by the Stealth Cam that shows an unexplained shadow and a cable that seems to move on its own.

There were no anomalous EMF fluctuations and investigators reported a K2 fluctuation twice in succession in the blue room.  These findings are inconclusive.  There were no unexplainable temperature variations during the investigation.  There were several EVPs collected by investigators throughout the night, as well as reports of audible sounds that could not be explained.

During the investigation it was noted that there was an “infinite mirror” situation set up in the blue room, one of the areas of reportedly high paranormal activity.  (Good thing Mike wasn’t there – infinite mirrors creep him out!)  One thing this causes is a multitude of reflections which may be seen in the peripheral vision, especially if the light source is in motion (i.e. a passing car) or if the person is moving through the room.  Also, infinite mirrors are possibly a portal for spirits or other entities to enter our plane of existence.  Another finding in the blue room was the air return duct in the cubby where activity had been noticed.  Does this create enough of a change in the air/dust/etc. in and around the cubby area to cause the homeowner to see or sense something there?  We’re not sure; it is a variable in a small area in which paranormal activity is reported.  The home geologically sits on deposits of limestone and quartz which may help to resonate any paranormal activity in the home or from the land on which it is built.

There were also a few personal experiences had by the investigators to be taken into account.  One investigator reports feeling strange sensations over her body when she was entering the blue room.  While in the blue room the sensation seemed to focus on her legs.  This same investigator was attempting to enter the pink room which she described as being ‘blacker than black’.  As she entered, she heard what she thought to be a male voice moan.  This voice was so close as to be right in her ear.  The investigator backed out of the room with an “Oh my god!”  There was also a dowsing rod episode where there seemed to be some big movements of the rods in response to the two investigators questions/requests.

M and M Investigators says during this investigation we have only collected enough evidence to conclude that there is some minor paranormal activity in the home.  We cannot, at this time, confirm that the home is haunted.

INTERVIEW

M and M Investigators was contacted through our Lead Investigator by a friend who said that she and her family were experiencing paranormal activity in their Smyrna home. Paranormal activity reported by the homeowners includes, black outlined and solid black shadows (child and adult sized), an apparition of a man with a hat seen upstairs, a large bird-sized shadow seen "flying" around the kitchen, hearing footsteps, a dog coming upstairs, a young girl’s voice that seems to be mocking one of the children living in the home, a man’s voice, items go missing, electrical appliances that were off are found turned on, and cold spots. The activity occurs all over the home but is reportedly more active on the stairs and the second floor. The activity was noted by the homeowners as soon as they moved into the home.

INVESTIGATION

On January 17, 2009, M and M Investigators conducted our investigation of the home. We placed black and white night vision cameras in the second floor bedrooms and covering the stair. Hi8 cameras were placed in the basement and attic of the home. Digital cameras were used in attempt to capture paranormal activity. We also used a new piece of equipment, a motion sensor IR black and white digital camera. This new camera was set up and relocated throughout the house during the investigation.

Digital and analog voice recorders were employed to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVPs). The voice recorders were placed in reportedly active areas of the home and were carried by investigators. Electromagnetic Field (EMF) detectors were used to measure the fluctuations in the EMF which may be a sign of paranormal activity. Non-contact thermometers measured variations in ambient temperature. Unexplained temperature variations may also be indicative of paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

During the investigation, Matt was watching the monitor and noticed an anomaly in the upstairs hallway. It was fleeting and appeared to Matt to be the figure of a man walking down the hall from the bathroom toward the stairs. Upon review of the DVRs, there is a very brief anomaly that appears to be a man with a hat in the upstairs hallway. Also, in reviewing one series of pictures from the motion sensor IR camera, one investigator had a jacket that was noted to move without explanation. There were no other anomalous video or photographic evidence captured.

Several EVPs were captured on both the digital and analog voice recorders. Check out our EVPs page to here the EVPs from this investigation. There were no anomalous EMF fluctuations. There were also no unexplainable temperature variations. There were certain areas of the house that were colder than others. This was, in most part, due to cold air coming in around windows.

There were also a few personal experiences our investigators had during the investigation. An ashtray in the kitchen went missing from where it was sitting and showed up later in another area of the kitchen…none of us moved it. While Matt and Mike were in the attic, a toy dinosaur (across the room) fell and moved a cardboard box.

M and M Investigators says, there seems to be a fairly high level of paranormal activity in the house. We did not quite get enough evidence during this investigation to meet our criteria for a haunting, however we were only missing the corroborating data of EMF and Temperature variations.

M and M Investigators was contacted by the daughter of the homeowners.  She reported that there were multiple spirits in the house and garage that made their presence known through a variety of paranormal activity; occasional bangs on the walls, shadows and  disembodied voices.  A full apparition of a blond girl in period clothing, drawers opening and closing and unexplained mists are reported.  In the garage, tools move on their own and the lights (and other hanging objects) swing…reportedly in response to the homeowners request as to which way to swing/turn.  The daughter showed M and M Investigators multiple pictures she had taken with possible paranormal activity.  She also reported that the land had been a farm many years ago and there was an accidental fire that may have claimed the lives of several of the people living in the farm house.  The daughter believes this to be one possible reason for the multiple spirits reportedly haunting the property.  The land was also used as a camping ground for transient carnival workers prior to being developed for housing.

INVESTIGATION

On October 10, 2008 M and M Investigators conducted our investigation of the house, garage and surrounding property.  Black and white night vision cameras were set up in all the active areas inside the house and outside.  Hi8 cameras were set up in the garage in attempt to capture the lights swinging.  Hand held digital camcorders were carried by some of the investigators as well.  Digital cameras were used to try to collect evidence of the paranormal activity that the family was reporting.

Digital and analog voice recorders were also placed in the active areas of the house and garage.  We also had our first experience with a “ghost box” as a means to obtain Electronic Voice Phe nomenon (EVPs).  Electromagnetic Field (EMF) detectors and K2 meters were used to sweep for fluctuations in the EMF which can be indicative of paranormal activity.  Non contact thermometers monitored variations in temperature.  Unexplained cold spots or hot spots may also be due to paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

Despite approximately 40 hours of video data collected, M and M Investigators did not capture any evidence of paranormal activity on the black and white night vision cameras, the Hi8s or the handheld camcorders.  There was also no photographic evidence collected to support the claims of paranormal activity.

There were no anomalous EMF spikes.  We tested and proved our theory that the K2 meters can be set off by other electronics such as cell phones and walkie-talkies, even at a distance of 6 -8 feet away.  There were also no anomalous temperature variations.  The only evidence that we were able to glean from our investigation were a several EVPs, one of which was of murderous intent!

A couple of investigators questioned having seen shadows in the hallway in their peripheral vision but nothing was picked up on video.  Other personal experiences that were reported included investigators feeling like they had been touched on the back of the neck and one of the investigators having heard her name called, but there was no one there.

M and M Investigators says, from the minimal evidence collected on this investigation, we can not say there is anything but minor paranormal activity in the house and garage on this property.  The photographic evidence supplied by the homeowner’s daughter was reviewed.  However, these photos had already been enhanced, adjusted and/cropped.  So, they were of limited value in determinin g if there was any paranormal activity in or around the house and garage.  We do appreciate the effort that was made to get this evidence to us for analysis.  Many of these photos had white areas along one edge of the picture.  An investigator was able to duplicate this effect by placing his finger in the way of the lens when taking a picture.

M and M Investigators received an email from a friend, who referred this client living in the Dover area.  The homeowner reports the home is approximately 200 years old and that she has noticed activity since moving in about six years ago.  She notices the activity mostly at night but her granddaughter experiences activity at any time of day, regardless of season or area of the house.  All of the members of the family have reported experiencing some activity.  Reported activity includes: unexplained shadows, footsteps through the rooms and on the stairs, cold breezes, objects moved from one place to another, toys that play by themselves, and a clown on a swing starts to swing by itself.  A friend of the homeowner took some pictures, which were not available for us to analyze, which the homeowner states appears to have 25 spirit faces in one picture.  Another picture of the outside of the home, appeared to have a dark, shadow presence leaning out of the homeowner’s bedroom window.

INVESTIGATION

M and M Investigators conducted our investigation on September 13, 2008 arriving at the home at approximately 8:30 pm.  As we set up our equipment, we had difficulty with our DVRs and IR cameras that we have never experienced at any other location.  We were able to discern that the home’s extremely high (> 10milliGauss) Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) was bleeding through the older, unshielded house electrical wiring and causing so much interference that we were unable to use the DVRs and IR cameras for this investigation.  So, boys and girls, its old school for this one!  We positioned our digital and Hi8 hand held cameras in the hot spots to get adequate video coverage.  Digital and analog voice recorders were placed throughout the house and carried by the investigators in attempt to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVPs).  EMF detectors, K2s and Non-contact thermometers were used in attempt to monitor variations in the EMF fields and ambient temperature which may be an indication of paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

One of the things noticed immediately was the fact that the house is situated next to active train tracks and there are high tension power lines in two sides of the home.  On further inspection, investigators found that the vibrations from the trains passing had worn away the covering of the electrical wiring in the basement and most likely other areas of the house.  This left wire bare to the staple holding the wiring to the beams.  This would explain the problem with the DVRs and IR cameras.  There was no video evidence that could be considered paranormal or explained the homeowner’s reports.  There was no audio evidence that could be isolated.  There were no temperature variations and the EMF fields were steadily high throughout the house due to the unshielded wiring and the high tension power lines in such close proximity to the home.

M and M Investigators says: We were skunked on this one.  Nothing that we could say was possibly paranormal activity.  So, at this time, we have to say if there is any paranormal activity, it is transient and didn’t show itself to us during the investigation.

INTERVIEW

This case was referred to M and M Investigators by a friend of ours, a former client herself that we keep in close contact with due to our interest in the paranormal.  Thanks P.

The homeowner contacted M and M Investigators to help her with what she felt was paranormal activity in her home.  She explained that her fiancé had died in the home of a sudden heart attack a year ago and that since then she has noticed the smell of his cologne, cold spots, apparitions, a toy that makes noise by itself and walking noises.  These usually only occur in the evening and at night.  The activity seems to increase during the cooler months.  Some family members are uneasy in the house and will no longer spend the night there.  However, the grandson, will report that his grandfather is following right behind him, see?  The homeowner described how she and her fiancé had been married previously, divorced and was making plans to get married again before he died.  And that about a month before the fiancé died in the home, he saw an apparition of the homeowner’s mother.

The homeowner also gave us a thrilling little bit of history on this house…it has been in her family for generations and when her grandparents had it, they used to bootleg liquor.  The family showed M and M Investigators places in the house were the liquor was hidden away.  She also reported the home had a famous (infamous?) visitor on several occasions…Mr. Al Capone.  She said that her grandmother told her they would make her [grandmother] leave when he visited.  (I guess no women-folk allowed.)

INVESTIGATION

On October 4, 2008 M and M Investigators conducted our investigation of this beautiful, historic home.  Black and white night vision cameras were set up in the basement, master bedroom, small downstairs bedroom, dining room, kitchen, back porch area and upstairs bedroom.  A Hi8 camera was placed to film the area where the fiancé’s ashes are memorialized.

Digital and analog voice recorders were placed throughout the house and carried by investigators in attempt to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVPs).  Electromagnetic Field (EMF) detectors, K2s and an ELF meter were used to monitor fluctuations in the electromagnetic fields in and around the home.  Non-contact thermometers were used to sweep for variations in the ambient temperature.  Unexplained fluctuations in EMF +/or temperature may indicate possible paranormal activity.

OUR FINDINGS

M and M Investigators was unable to capture any paranormal activity on video and only one of the almost 400 photos taken has possible activity shown.  There were several EVPs including one responding to our question about taking a ride in the fiancés boat…we were told “no”.

There were some anomalous K2 spikes in the small dining area off the kitchen.  The ELF meter also registered there once as well.  However, the EMF meter did not register at all.  It was difficult to determine if the K2 spikes were in answer to our questions or just random pulses.  We were unable to locate an electrical source associated with this anomalous EMF disturbance.  No unexplainable temperature variations were noted during the investigation.

As to the homeowner’s reports of smelling her fiancé’s cologne; the cologne is kept wrapped up under the sink but it is near the drain for the sink.  When warm or hot water is run in the sink it can cause some of the cologne to evaporate releasing the smell of the fiancé’s cologne into the air.  This is not to say that we are excluding the possibility of it being a “paranormal smell” to announce the fiancé’s presence to the homeowner.   The toy rocking horse that seems to make noise by itself could be triggered to sound by just slightly moving the carpet under the toy.

M and M Investigators says there may be some paranormal activity here however we picked up little evidence of the activity during our investigation.  The inability to complete their plans to remarry may be the unfinished business that may have the fiancé lingering.
